Jason Cook is film and television editor based in Toronto, Canada. Jason enrolled in the Graphic Design, Television Programming and Editing course at Mohawk College and a short time after he started his career in pre and post production. After a co-op placement at Black Walk Productions and a full time position in the tape duplication department at Bullet Digital Post he was offered a position as junior editor. This is led to a position as editor at Much Music for the show Pop Star and three consecutive seasons on the popular Chopped series for the Food Network.
His transition into long form documentary work with Banger Films, CBC, and Vice in the subsequent years is where Jason’s long career as music collector/DJ and archival historian developed into a talent for fusing the important aspects of filmic rhythm with emerging, complex story structures into central cohesive narratives.
Most importantly, Jason’s associations with commercial and critically successful shows are a result of his strong, collaborative relationships between himself and award-winning producers and directors. The way he is able to translate the ideas of these filmmakers and through his particular way of seeing possibilities in the material is why he is continually asked to return for future projects.
